I ordered a copy of the playtest book from Lulu so I could use it at the table and get a sense of its heft, the size of its print, and other utility questions in actual play. Here are some pictures!
The book is slim and unassuming, easily slipped into a bag or notebook folder.
The text is easily readable, the layout works pretty well. I like the Crom font.
The character sheet in its native environment.
I don’t think anyone will photocopy cards out of the back of the book, but I want them to look okay there all the same.
So what do you think of that?
I like the way the book looks. I think it will be a great book to have in hand.
About the cards. i agree that almost no-one will photocopy out of the book. especially if they will be available as handouts on the website. Why not turn them so they are oriented for reading in the book. the sideways orientation is kinda annoying to read in a print book. and i hate it on a tablet, which tries to “correct” the orientation if you turn the tablet sideways to read a sideways document.
But i want to say this book looks great. i loved reading through it, and am starting a more critical second reading. i just need to convince my game group that this should be our next game!

I don’t turn the clan identity cards because I’m building this in Word. In Word, you can have text sideways either way, and right side up, but not upside down. Eventually I hope to have more professional layout done for the book, but I am not a professional with layout.
I look forward to more of your thoughts on the game.
